If I have learned anything in my life, it's that change - real, genuine change - comes from consistent action. The world around us will always continue to spin madly on unless we take control. Doing something consistently, regardless of how seemingly insignificant it may seem, will always yield greater change than inconsistent and erratic efforts.
When Rhone was established two short years ago, we talked about building a community full of mutually supportive, courageous and innovative people that are trying to be better. I want to emphasize this point (that's why I bolded it, pretty amazing right?).
In short, we got tired of the standard that was often celebrated and decided that we would break the mold by holding up a different ideal. We champion the cause of people that actively care and constantly improve. So, in the world of Rhone, nice guys finish first and all good deeds should be welcomed, not punished.
With that mission in mind and during an immensely pivotal point in our company's trajectory, we are proud to unveil our latest project: Rowvember.
What is Rowvember?
Throughout the month of November, Rhone is joining forces with the Testicular Cancer Foundation in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Testicular Cancer research. Rhone is challenging everyone to 'Give A Pair to Save a Pair.' In other words, test your mettle by hopping on a stationary rower and going all out for 2 minutes. At the end, donate $1 for every 100 meters rowed and then, tag two friends and challenge them do the same.
A public leaderboard will be curated on the registered domain Rowvember.org and at the end of the month, a winner will receive a prize pack including a large donation made in their name to the TCF. You can follow our progress on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook by following us @Rowvember and using the hashtags #Rowvember and #GiveaPairtoSaveaPair.
How do I Get Involved?
First, get moving. Regardless of your rowing prowess, get on a rower and do the very best you can for 2 solid minutes. Next, invite others to participate. Take a screen shot of your best row and tag two friends. It's that simple. Finally, donate. We recommend a donation of $1 per 100 meters which would equate to a $5 donation for a pretty average 2:00 minute row.
What If I Don't Have a Rower?
We have gathered some resources that will help you participate in Rowvember. First, the good people at Concept II (the world's best indoor rower) have provided a page where you can enter your location and find a rower nearest you, click here for more info.
Second, if you are in the New York City area, our friends at Row House have graciously offered to open their doors to anyone who wants to participate in Rowvember. They have locations in Columbus Circle and Chelsea and while you are there, be sure to pick up some rowing tips from their helpful coaches.
Finally, if all else fails you can count on us! If you can't find a rower in your area, tweet at us @rowvember and we will either help you find a rower or bring one directly to you!
Why Are You Doing This?
As a brand we pride ourselves on designing products that speak directly to how the modern man lives, works and sweats. But it is also, perhaps even more so, vital to our success that we relate to how that same man thinks, feels and acts. That is why this campaign is a no-brainer for us. We know that our community will rally behind this cause because we have seen the way you compete and we have seen the way you care. The funds donated will go towards cancer survivors and cancer research.
As you know, we dream big dreams and so we hope you will join us for the first annual Rowvember. Our ultimate goal is to bring awareness and support to a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, but we also hope to make this an event that people look forward to and train for all year long.
