Shorts are made from soft material that is comfortable, time will tell on durability. The overall 'fit' of the short is like their shirts, which is similar to "fitted" styles by under armor, nike, etc. As a guy with muscular legs/glutes, this causes me issues in shorts generally if I cannot get exact dimensions, which Rhone does not list. So not knowing how an XL would be in waist/drape, I went with the LG. If I had not bought them during Rhone's sale, these would have been immediately exchanged upon receipt as they too fitted and I feel like the seams will rip when in a deep squat, lunge, etc. Additional note, due to the material your bulge leaves a clear imprint if they are too tight. Lucky the shorts have stretch to them, so I might be able to rock around house, but forget being able to wear in public. Again, very unfortunate on exchanges as I would be willing to give their XL a go in this style. This also continues the differing fit between Rhones short line without proper annotation of this in descriptions. I have two other pairs of their shorts, all LG, and the fit is WILDLY different between them, as is the material and stretch. Was hoping for better from them on all this, hence my rating.
